To start dowsing is to find the best way of balancing your elbow, you can either rest your elbow on a table in front of you and allow the pendulum to swing freely or you can hold out your arm allowing the pendulum to swing, its about what you feel is right for you, some put their elbow on the arm of their settee, try different ways to see what suits you.

As the pendulum only work in these movements, you will only get yes or no answers or a don’t know which is why you must be precise in your questioning.
Hold the pendulum in your hand whilst clearing your mind and make sure the pendulum is still.
When starting out to dowse, the pendulum wants to work with you on the direction for yes and no, you can find this out in two different ways. You can ask the pendulum to show you which way for yes, which way for no, for this you will say to the pendulum show me the way or direction for no, show me the way or direction for yes and which way for don’t know or you can ask the pendulum questions that you already know the answers to and see which way it swings.
Do this a few times so the pendulum can also get use to working with you and your energy.
You will find that there is varying degrees of how fast the pendulum will move, the stronger the movement the stronger the energies
You may find that the pendulum does not move, which means you will either ask the question again or find that the question you are asking has not been asked in a precise way failing that, it may not be the right time for the question or answer so leave until another time.
If you area using a crystal pendulum after you have used it, especially on a healing level it is best to cleanse the crystal and charge as the crystal will pick up negative energies and debris from your client or whom you are working on and there is nothing like a crystal that is clear to work with.
